طبيب التوليد وأمراض النساء هو الطبيب الذي يتابع السيدة أثناء الحمل والولادة. لا يقوم طبيب أمراض النساء بإجراء العمليات ولكنّه يتابع مرضاه طوال حياتهم. هو الذي يجري فحوصات هرمونية أو خصوبة ويصف وسائل منع الحمل ويعالج التهابات المسالك التناسلية.

لا يوجد عمر حقيقي للتشاور الأول مع طبيب أمراض النساء ، فهذا يعتمد على احتياجات كل شخص. يمكنك الذهاب إليه من بداية سن البلوغ إذا كان لديكِ أيّ أسئلة، ولكن من الممكن أيضًا الانتظار حتى بلوغ سنّ الـ 20 عامًا. بعد 20 عامًا، إذا كان الشخص نشيطا جنسيًا، فمن المستحسن استشارة طبيب أمراض النساء مرة كلّ عامين.

غالبا تسمع الأمهات دقات قلب الجنين وتشعر بحركته ما بين الأسبوع ال 18 والـ 20 ، ولكن فى الحمل الأول قد تطول المدة.

يجب أن يكون هناك فترة أكثر من سنتين بين الحمل الأول والثانى حتى تستعيد المرأة صحتها وتهتم بطفلها.

الحمل المناسب يكون من 18 سنة إلى 35 سنة بعد ذلك يكون هناك خطورة على الأم ولكن مع المتابعه الدورية قد يحدث الحمل بشكل طبيعى .

نعم ، فالرياضة تساعد على تسهيل عملية الولادة الطبيعية وخصوصا فى الشهر التاسع.

الأسباب الرئيسية لتعسر الولادة تتضمن : كبر حجم الجنين أو وجوده بالرحم بوضع غير طبيعي، صغر حجم الحوض عند الأم أو وجود مشاكل في قناة الولادة. والأوضاع غير الطبيعية للجنين في الرحم تشمل تعسر ولادة الكتف وفيها لا يمر الكتف الأمامي للجنين بسهولة تحت عظم العانة.

يتحدد نوع الولادة بحسب الحالة الصحية للأم والجنين، فقد يحدد الطبيب للحامل الولادة القيصرية في بداية الحمل لأسبابها الصحية، أو في أي شهر إن حدثت تغيرات لحالة الأم أو الجنين. إن جرت الأمور جيدًا، ففي بداية الشهر التاسع يُجري الطبيب الفحوصات لتحديد نوع الولادة، وقد تتحدد الولادة باكرًا بحسب عديد من الأمور مثل: وزن الجنين وحجم رأسه: في حالة كبر حجم رأس الجنين أو جسمه أو صغر حوض الأم وعدم التناسب، قد يتطلب الأمر التدخل القيصري. الولادة السابقة: كون الولادة السابقة قيصرية قد يعزز ذلك من فرص الولادة القيصرية للحمل التالي، وكذلك بعض العوامل الأخرى، مثل حالة الشق الجراحي أو صغر المدة بين الحملين مما قد يضر بالرحم عند الولادة الطبيعية ويرجح كفة القيصري. الحمل بتوأم: أو أكثر رغم قدرة الأم على الولادة الطبيعية، لكن في بعض الأحيان تتطلب الحالة التدخل القيصري. صحة الجنين: كالعيوب الخلقية مثل أمراض القلب الخلقية أو تجمع السوائل حول المخ مما يتطلب التدخل القيصري. وضع المشيمة: في المشيمة المنزاحة يكون اتصالها بالرحم منخفضًا، مما يعوق منفذ خروج الجنين من عنق الرحم ويعزز فرص الولادة القيصرية. وضعية الجنين: الوضعية المستعرضة التي لا يستطيع الطبيب تعديلها أو الولادة المقعدية عندما يتموضع الجنين بمقعدته وقدميه نحو المخرج، ولا يستطيع تعديل وضعه، مما يعزز فرص القيصرية. حالة الأم الصحية: فإصابة الأم بالسكري أو أعراض تسمم الحمل يستدعي التوليد القيصري العاجل.

بعد مرور أسبوعين على الولادة، يعود الرحم إلى حجمه الطبيعي تقريبًا، وبعد مرور 4 أسابيع، يُعود إلى حجمه الطبيعيّ عادةً،ولكن لا يُصبِحُ بطن الأم الجديدة منبسطًا مثلما كان قبل الحمل ولعدَّة أشهر، حتَّى إذا كانت تمارس التمارين.
