As part of the Egyptian state's ongoing efforts to support medical professionals and recognize their continuous contributions to the healthcare sector, the Union of Medical Professions Syndicates has officially announced the disbursement of June 2025 pension payments to its members—doctors, pharmacists, dentists, and veterinarians—as well as to eligible heirs, starting Saturday, June 15, through all banks and Egypt Post branches.
According to the Union’s statement, the monthly pension payment stands at EGP 1,500 per eligible member, fully funded by union subscriptions and internal resources. Tens of thousands of retired healthcare professionals and their families benefit from this monthly pension, which honors years of dedicated service to the Egyptian public.
This pension is a key part of a broader social security system designed to support retired doctors and provide them with a basic level of financial stability—particularly critical in the face of current economic challenges and rising living costs.
Dr. Yasser El-Sherbiny, Secretary-General of the Union, stated that an actuarial study is currently underway to assess the possibility of increasing the pension amount in the near future, in line with inflation rates and changes in living conditions. He emphasized that the Union is committed to finding sustainable solutions to enhance member benefits, without jeopardizing the financial health of the pension fund.
El-Sherbiny also highlighted that ensuring regular pension payments is one of the Union’s top priorities, representing a true acknowledgment of the Egyptian doctor’s vital role in society.
These pensions are of critical importance, especially for medical professionals who have served for decades in remote or underserved areas. This financial support helps ensure socio-economic stability for a wide segment of Egypt’s healthcare workforce and reassures younger doctors that their future is being taken into account.
Beyond pensions, the Union of Medical Professions also provides a variety of other benefits to its members, including medical treatment programs, emergency financial aid, and professional development seminars.
There is also continuous collaboration between the Union and the Ministries of Health, Finance, and Social Solidarity to maintain the cash flow into the pension funds and balance expenditures with available resources.
The disbursement of June 2025 pensions to members of Egypt’s medical syndicates serves as a tangible reflection of the state’s and society’s appreciation for the indispensable role of healthcare professionals. It also reaffirms the commitment to ensuring a dignified life for those who have dedicated their careers to the wellbeing of Egyptian citizens.
